Egg Day for Alycia

Today was egg drop day at Prairie View Elementary. Alycia was assigned to make a vehicle that would hold an egg and protect it from a drop
Of 20 feet.

It was a very intensive project.

She enlisted the help of her siblings and her dad for help

As Cal says "a big mess".

The final product turned out great.

Off to school to see how it fares.

Here is the drop

Final verdict....

SUCCESS! the egg did not break. Alycia was so happy!

Gettin' Down With Mama Goose

So every year the kindergartners put on a production "Gettin' Down With Mama Goose.". We have been privileged enough to get to see it three times now. Very exciting.

Davis had a speaking line

"is that about a clock?"

They also sang and sang and sang.

Cal's new do

Time for a hair cut. It has been so long that we went with a bowl cut this time.

Not sure what purpose the hair elastics served except to make me laugh.

Look at how handsome I am!

Davis Reading

Having taught two other children how to read I thought Davis would be a breeze. No such luck, there is no way to get my 4 year old to sit still (and inside) for a reading lesson. He is now 5 1/2 and is really coming along! It's exciting to see him get it!

No Electronic Weekend!

The kids school brought home a note saying that their school was sponsoring a no electronics weekend. No phones, televisions, DSI, iPods, computers, etc.

Spencer and I are thinking no way we can't do it... We did it and survived. We started at 7:00 p.m. Friday night and took the kids to sears to get a basketball. Saturday we spent the morning riding bikes then we headed to Isaac (our nephew's) eagle scout award ceremony. Then on to science center for the afternoon.

You know when you are exhausted and you you rent a movie and come home and relax. Nope not for us. Instead we had a family sleep over. We brought everyone's mattresses and blankets down. Told stories and fell asleep.

It was fun to spend the time with each other but we are glad we have our electronic devices back.

Davis' lesson

Last week for family home evening Davis was incharge of the lesson. We started and he was hiding so to not ruin the plot.

He had dressed up as Noah and he had gotten the idea to read the bible story book that we have that goes through the song "rise and shine and give God the glory glory".

He even had props and used our wooden Noah's ark boat. It was fun to see his little 5 year old mind come up with something to do.

Cal's Adventures

Cal was helping me cook the other day and this is what he brought me. 10 cans of cream of chicken soup.

He then got tired of cooking and got all the pillows in the house and most of the blankets and made a super soft landing area. So he could jump from the 6 step up, crazy kid!

Double Digits

On January 14th Alycia turned 10. Time has gone by so fast and already my sweet baby is 10. I think the next 10 might be filled with even more excitement and challenges!

We started the day opening a present from Pop and Grannie.

Then we headed out to spend that birthday money. Thanks to Harmony (and Danny) we were able to go without Davis. We went to Charming Charlies and picked out some jewelry.

We then had to wait for dinner for the rest of the surprises. Papa and Mumo came for dinner, home made Mac and cheese (Alycia's favorite).

I think this picture says it all. She got a new electric guitar and loves it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALYCIA!
